・A doublet is a cushioned defensive garment worn alone or below mail or plate armour. The Doublet jacket is comprised of high-quality cotton fibres and moves freely. Raw cotton pads and cotton linen are utilised for added comfort, breathability, and durability.
・While the doublet was primarily used for military purposes, civilians sometimes wore it for protection during travel or work.
・Suitable Padded Arming If you want to wear steel plate or chainmail armour, doublet are a necessity. It is cosy to wear when worn by itself. The elbow pads have fabric-covered buttons made of horn, bone, or wood from the early medieval period. Does not overheat during intense training and competitions.
・This armour was worn as a full suit of armour as well as beneath mail and plate to cushion the body and prevent chafing. It was not used beneath armour until the mid-twelfth century. It was quite insulating and hence uncomfortable, but the soldier needed the protection.
